I had such a wonderful day today! Today was sunny and warm for a January day, especially after such cold and rainy weather the past couple of weeks. Dad said that with all the nasty weather that my sister and I had “cabin fever”.
Well today we did something about our cabin fever! Today being Sunday, we tried to get out of going to church so we could stay home and enjoy the warm day. But Dad would not cooperate! After we got out of church we stripping down on the ride home…good thing for tinted windows. When we arrived home we picked up our clothes from the floorboard and walked from the garage into the back door, dropping our clothes into the laundry room hamper as we walked past. My sister and I walked through the kitchen into the living room and straight out the French doors to our back porch.
It felt absolutely wonderful! We stepped out onto the patio and into the warm sun. I turned to look at the thermometer hanging off the porch post and it read 66 degrees. It wasn’t as warm as I wanted it to be, but the warm sun felt good on my bare skin. My sister went back inside to get us some towels while I arranged the lounge chairs to get the best angle of sun…I was so excited!
We spread out our towels and laid down and proceeded to spend the afternoon basking in the warm January sunshine. Dad came out on the patio and grilled some burgers and we all ate out by the pool. It was too bad that the pool water was too cold (at least for us) and we all commented that we couldn’t wait until summer comes back around. After we ate my sister and I strolled down to our pond at the back of the property. We thought that we would walk through the woods down to the creek, but the grass was too cold under our feet and it was not very comfortable in the shade. So we decided that the creek could wait for a warmer day and we walked back up to the house to finish out the afternoon laying in the sunshine by the pool.
The warm sun felt so good after being stuck inside for so long. As long as we stayed in the sunshine we were not too chilly. But after a while, the afternoon gave way to cooler temperatures and we sadly ended our day in the sunshine, and headed back inside the house. But our little afternoon sunbath helped get rid of our cabin fever…at least for now.
